The Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) Racing Series is a professional stock car league featuring exciting racing and a mix of professional and hobby drivers. It often serves as a proving grounds for younger competitors who are trying to make a name for themselves, or driving as part of a development program for a NASCAR team. Notable races include Talladega, Daytona and Pocono.
Built with our innovative design principles and meticulous production capabilities, the Ilmor Dodge ARCA stock car race engine is at the top of its class in power and reliability. In addition to precision-built components, Ilmor delivers engineering services, performance-enhancing analysis and testing along with trackside technical assistance. We combine these capabilities with the highest levels of service and product support to make the Ilmor ARCA engine program second to none.
The Ilmor ARCA engine made its first appearance at Daytona in February 2007, and posted its first top-10 finish in June of that year at the Michigan International Speedway with driver Damon Lusk behind the wheel.
In 2010, Ilmor completed a successful season with Cunningham Motorsports, with two cars powered by Ilmor engines: Car #77 driven by Tom Hessert, and Car #22 driven by Dakoda Armstrong. Tom Hessert dominated and won the race at Iowa Speedway, placed in the top 5 ten times, and placed third in the overall Championship standings. He also led the most laps during the season (387, next best was 270). Penske development driver Dakoda Armstrong won both the pole and the race at Talladega, and also won again at Salem. He won the coveted "Rookie of the Year" award and was the highest finishing rookie in 19 of the 20 races in 2010. Both Hessert and Armstrong were the top two drivers to complete the most laps throughout the season: Hessert with 2631 of a possible 2652 (99.2%) laps, and Armstrong with 2580 (97.2%). This outstanding feat highlights the skill and preparation of the Cunningham Team and superior engineering and reliability of Ilmor ARCA engines.
